

UDORN THANI

Udorn Thani, aporvince on the northeastern plateau of Thailland. covers an area of 15,589 square kilometres, with its boundary streching to Nong Khai in the north, Khon Kaen it the south, Sakon Nakhon in the east, and Nong Bua Lam Phu in the west, Udont Thani is situated on a plateau with mountains and forested areas in the west stretching and forested areas in the west stetching southwards along the provincial border from Amphone Nam Som and towards the southeast near Kalasin and Sakon Nakhon provinces. The plateau gradually slopes down along Huai luang Stream to the Mekong River to the province's northeast. The provincial capital, Udorn Thani is 562 Kilometres northeast of Bangkok and approximately 50 kimlometres south of the Mekog River and Laos PDR. UdornThani is probaby best known for its archaeological wonders, paramount among them is Ban Chiang where the world's first Bronze Age civilisation is believed to have flourished more than 5,000 years ago.
TOURIST Nong Prajak Park and Lake is found in the north western part of Ban Na Kha is 16 kilometers from UdonThani along the UdornThani-Nong Khai hightway (Hightwya 2). Ban Na Kha is a weaving village remowned for locally woven khit (a geometric, diamond-gird) minimal weft vrocade patten fabrics. Locally made nadicrafts are put on sale at moderate prices, but make sure you vargain as Ban Na Kha attracts many tourists who pay excessive prices. Take the white bus from the fontain circle roundabout (hah yak). |
